Natural Cures for Diabetes
This page refers to Diabetes which is controlled by diet alone or diet with pills. Insulin dependent diabetes MUST have proper mainstream medical supervision
Diabetes (or more properly diabetes mellitus to distinguish it from the much rarer diabetes insipidus, a condition of abnormal bodily water control) is a common condition. It is related to strain of the islets of langerhans in the pancreas which control the level of circulating blood glucose in the body. These abnormalities can be caused by simple strain due to obesity, sugar excess or from other causes, or with insulin dependent diabetes from auto immune or other destructive diseases causing damage to the islets.
Type Two Diabetes - the non-insulin dependent variety - is usually without symptoms and tends to be found in a check up or with other investigations. It is potentially serious and can lead to longterm complications such as blindness, and arterial diseases that increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and gangrene.

Modern Western Medicine
In the more serious cases of Type Two Diabetes Treatment is by tablets that stimulate the islets to produce more insulin. These can include Glibenclamide, Glicazide and Metformin. There are many others. Dietary control is important to reduce the strain on the islets as is weight reduction.
