Food Intolerance Testing

Kinesiology

ELISA Testing

This is a test in which a small sample of blood is added to trays containing extracts of potentially offending foods. The development of a colour change indicates the presence of IgG (an antibody), which is increasingly believed to be a marker of sensitivity to that food.

One or more of milk, egg white, cashew nut, almond and yeast appear in the results of 75% of the people who have had food intolerance blood testing and it may be better to exclude these for six months to see if there is an improvement before moving on to testing which may be expensive. Please note that this is the personal view of Dr Mike Matthews, editor of Shared Care who was Medical Director of York Nutritional Laboratories (now YorkTest Laboratories) from 1998 to 2001

Nutron Test

Again a small sample of blood is taken and in this test the reactions of the white cells to food extracts is used as the determinant of food intolerances.
