Aromatherapy is a technique that utilises the healing effects of essential oils derived from plants which are applied by massage, put into bath water or vaporised to produce their effects. These effects come about through the direct stimulation of the massage or via activation of the small sensitive area of the brain that deals with smells.  It has been described as hypnosis with smells

The qualifications and requirements for a practitioner to be registered may vary markedly from organisation to organisation. We would strongly recommend that you visit the organisation's website to ensure that your chosen practitioner is registered with an organisation which has requirements with which you approve.

The home country of the organisation is listed. Although their practitioner lists are likely to be limited to their own countries most will provide more information, advice, contacts and help wherever you live:-
