- God and Anxiety! — by Biancia Dashiells Tate — last modified 2008-11-02 02:47
- Anxiety starts with a thought that is a response to an external event that has caused one to feel threatened. One feels as though something they value is going to be taken from them such as their financial security, health, or freedom. Thus, one's peace of mind has been taken from them and, it has been replaced by fear. This anxiety can threaten one's physical, mental and spiritual health which can jeopardize one's freedom and, thus, one is left with a feeling of despair and hopelessness which leads them to either be angry at the world or themselves but, either way, one can begin to disconnect from those around them and isolate themselves into a lonely and painful coccoon. Unfortunately, this is the state of mind of most people living in today's world for, they have lost the one thing that could allow them to retain their peace of mind in this world and that is their child-like faith. If one watches a child, it seems as if it is so easy for them to believe in the unseen even under the worst of circumstances. This is because they have not yet been exposed to the real world adults live in and, thus, they have remained innocent and unharmed by the world's evil forces. How we wish we could be children again and be able to believe in the unseen as they do. Yet, one has been exposed to the real world which has wounded their faith and confidence in God and has left them with doubt and unbelief . One is then left with an independent spirit which says, I must make it on my own for I am an adult and people are counting on me to succeed and make them feel safe. Yet, you are unable to make this happen for, afterall, you are only human and, thus, you are left feeling anxious and alone with no hope or relief in sight. So, how does one regain their child-like faith again so they can regain their peace of mind? One must begin to pray again and give all your cares and burdens to God just as Jesus did. One must release all of their pain, grief, sorrow, anger, and stress and give it to God and, in exchange, He will give you His strength, His power, His love, and His wisdom just like He did Jesus. God made the heavens and the earth so that you, His child, can enjoy it with Him. He did not make you to be independent from Him but to learn your need for Him as He demonstrated through His Son Jesus. Jesus would often withdrawl from the crowds to pray and ask His Father for help and, the Father would give Him what He needed and, the end result was that Jesus was able to succeed at everything He did. The Father even raised Him from the dead and gave Him a powerful church which took His gospel to the earth and, He provided all they needed to fulfill their mission. So, why not try prayer to cure anxiety? Also, why not try to read the Bible and learn how the Bible people dealt with stress and anxiety in a world with no psychiatrists or medications but, instead, they chose to believe and trust in a God they could not see and, the end result was that they were able to perservere through major affliction and persecution and still remain joyful and peaceful. There is just something about that intimate relationship with God that gives one the peace that passes all understanding and joy unspeakable. Why not give it a try? What do you have to lose that you are not already at risk of losing?

- Warren Buffet once said, "Somebody's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago." This concept can be applied to becoming wealthy and also to becoming healthy. By choosing to incorporate mindful, healthy lifestyle choices and preventive health care modalities into our lives today, we can enjoy the shade for years to come.

- Living and providing for three members of my family who are gluten allergic or gluten intolerant is much easier than I at first thought. Once the shock of being told you cannot eat bread, cakes, biscuits and pies has dissipated the transfer to a gluten free diet can be one of the healthiest things you ever do!
