Shiatsu

Author Information

by mike last modified 2008-04-12 19:19

The practice of Shiatsu is an age old japanese holistic therapy. The basis of shiatsu is the belief that there are channels in the body called meridians through which the vital energy (called Qi) flows. Anything that impedes or stops this flow can cause symptoms. The treatment is aimed at releasing the blockage, returning the flow of Qi to normal and so relieving the symptoms. The treatments consist of moves that vary from gentle touch to deep pressure over the meridian blockages using anything from fingers and elbows to feet and knees through to rotation and stretching of limbs. This will regularise the flow of Qi and will produce improvements at both a physical and emotional level.
