Western Herbal Medicine
Many modern medicines were once derived from plants; Aspirin from willow bark, Digoxin from the foxglove and so on. Herbal medicine continues to use extracts of whole plants for its treatments and often combines different herbs to utilise the properties of synergy (working together) and buffering (conditions of constituents reducing toxicity).
